“Think Pink” Recap

Last month, we encouraged Paula Young fans to share their stories about an experience they or a loved one had with breast cancer.  Of those who shared their story, we have selected a handful of fans to host a wig party for their friends and family as we help raise awareness for breast cancer.  I think Colleen, our Chief Fashion Consultant, explains it best,  “The Pink Wig Party contest honors Breast Cancer Awareness month, but creates an up-beat, interactive experience for victims, survivors and their loved ones to show their support.  Our aim was not only to do our part to raise awareness for the cause, but to do so in a whole new way.”

We received an overwhelming number of responses that were truly compelling and struck a chord with many of the stylists here.  While all the stories were amazing, we had the difficult task of selecting five entries that stood out.  Our five winning submissions came from:  Carol Garling, Beverly Gordon, Erma Johnson, Philicia Neal, and Juanita Velaquez.

Once they receive their wig party kits, the winners will be able to host their own Think Pink Wig Party in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  They can invite their friends to try on sample wigs, discuss styling tips and thumb through the catalogs, showcasing the most popular wig and hair fashion selections. A portion of all sales made via the parties will be donated to organizations dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness.

I’m truly happy to be a part of an organization that supports causes they believe in!  We’d like to extend a special thank you to everyone who helped make October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month a success, especially all those who took the time to share their personal, heartfelt stories with us.

We here at Paula Young honored breast cancer victims and survivors in our own way.  On October 27, Paula Young,  Especially Yours, and Wig.com employees wore pink wigs and/or dressed in pink to support the cause.  We also made donations to charity while posting to our “Remembrance Wall”.  Below are some images from that day.
